The Breast Imaging Bootcamp includes:

  • 7.25 Category-A, ASRT approved credits.
  • Lectures and workshops, which review anatomy and standardized positioning techniques.
  • Hands-on mammography positioning practice with a mammography educational consultant.
  • Four hours of lecture on mammography positioning with an introduction of the Breast MAP.
  • One hour mammography demonstration with a model(s).
  • Two hours of hands-on mammography positioning training with a model.
  • Multiple mammography education consultants (if needed) to provide sufficient one-on-one practice during the positioning workshop.
  • Certificate of completion following the program.

After a couple weeks of implementing the training, I felt confident enough to start showing my coworkers these new positioning techniques. With patients' permission I was able to show a fellow tech how to position and then she was able to try it herself.  I think it would benefit all of our mammo techs greatly to have this bootcamp at our site and everyone be able to attend. I really do feel like I am a better mammographer after learning positioning this way! I do hope it becomes the National Standard for all new techs to learn!
